Met technologische transities alleen redden we het niet. Om de wereld leefbaar te houden moet onder andere de consumptie worden gereduceerd. Maar we lijken te gedesoriënteerd om de juiste prioriteiten te stellen.

 Volgens Henk van Tuinen dragen marketinguitingen van bedrijven bij aan onze desoriëntatie. Maar de politieke economie levert een praktisch instrument om ons te heroriënteren.

Inleiding

Op 8 oktober verscheen The 2024 state of the climate report (Ripple et all. 2024). Het rapport van de meest seniore internationale klimaatwetenschappers concludeert: “Only through decisive action can we safeguard the natural world, avert profound human suffering and ensure that future generations inherit the livable world they deserve. The future of humanity hangs in the balance.” Om welke “decisive action” moet het dan gaan?
