Senior Responsible Investment Strategist - NN

As a Senior Responsible Investment Strategist you will lead the enhancement of the selection and monitoring process for external managers on ESG and play a key role in the ESG due diligence.

In the international head office of NN Group, you will be part of the NN Group Investment Office (NNIO). You'll be joining the NN Group Investment Office at an exciting time; as we are building a more visible Responsible Investment function together with dedicated Responsible Investing and Sustainability experts of NN Corporate Citizenship. In your role you will work closely with senior investment specialists and asset managers active in a large range of asset classes. You get the opportunity to leverage your ESG and investment expertise, make a positive societal impact and contribute to our strategic ambitions, more specifically in the area Responsible Investing for NN Group’s investments. 

Your impact as Senior Responsible Investment Strategist at NN

The NN Group Investment Office is focusing on the investment activities within the general account and pension fund portfolios located in 10 different countries. The integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) in the investment processes, and engagement with investee companies are at the heart of our Responsible investment strategy and supports our ambition to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable economy.

Your responsibilities

As a Senior Responsible Investment Strategist you will:

  • Lead the enhancement of the selection and monitoring process for external managers on ESG and play a key role in the ESG due diligence. You will liaise with the NN IO portfolio managers and engage directly with external asset managers.
  • Play a key role in driving progress on the NN Climate Strategy as well as the implementation of new policies in investment mandates across both public markets (equity, corporate bonds and sovereign bonds) and private markets (real estate, private debt, private equity and infrastructure).
  • Contribute to strategic thinking and further development of methodologies and frameworks on topics such as net-zero, biodiversity and social. Define targets in line with the overall strategic direction, formulate goals and roadmaps and monitor the progress on all climate related activities, with a focus on investing. ?
  • Represent NN in international working groups such as IIGCC and Finance for Biodiversity for the development of sustainability frameworks.
  • Keep track of sustainability trends and regulations.

Who you are

You are keen to contribute to aligning our investment portfolios to ESG and climate goals. You are an expert in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues and on how these can be best managed from an investor perspective. You have highly developed interpersonal skills and a strong sense for individual accountability and accuracy.

We prefer candidates with the following experience and skill sets: 

  • At least 5-10 years of working experience in the area of sustainability combined with financial markets.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the sustainability landscape and ability to translate into responsible investment strategies. Previous experience with Unit linked/ DC is a pre
  • Preferably a background in fixed income, with a clear understanding of all major investment asset classes covering public and private fixed income, equity, property and derivatives.
  • Knowledge of key international initiatives on climate change and decarbonisation.
  • Pro-active and ability to work independently, able to listen and express and communicate views

The working language in the Investment Office is English.
